Ayurvedic
Workshop with
Lalita Devi
April 25-28, 2008 • North
Shore Yoga
| Ayurveda: The Doshas & Beyond |
| Friday, April
25, 1:00–5:30pm [$90] |
Many of
us have heard the words Vata, Pitta and Kapha dosha
in association with Ayurveda and have some idea
about their meaning. In this workshop we will explore
the subtle and gross concepts that underlie the
doshas so that we can have a deeper clearer understanding.
We will learn that the doshas apply to your innate
physical/mental constitution and also to your current
imbalances. Separating out the difference between
your inherent constitution and the imbalance is
the key to understanding the doshas and their practical
application for creating harmony or disharmony
our lives.
Beyond the doshas... we will
look at the physiological systems of the body-mind
complex; the tissues and organs, the channels of
flow, the many digestions and the production of
toxins. We will link them with the doshas to have
a better understanding of how we create balance
and imbalance, ease and disease.
Last, and really
most important, we will learn and practice accessible
daily and seasonal routines that will facilitate
an immediate, positive result for your personal
well-being.
Please bring your own Neti
Pot and Tongue Scraper; or the following will be
available for purchase: Neti Pot ($8), Tongue Scraper
($5), Eye Wash & Cup ($5), Body Oil ($8). |

| Ayurveda & Yoga |
| Saturday, April 26, 12:30–5:30pm
[$90] |
Ayurveda
belongs to the same Vedic teachings as Yoga and
was meant to be practiced along with Yoga. Come
to this introductory workshop to explore Ayurveda
and the concept of the subtle life force (the five
pranas) as it relates to Yoga. We will learn how
specific Hatha Yoga practices (Asana and Pranayama)
direct the subtle flow of energy through the channels
of the body-mind and how the doshas are balanced
by different patterns of movement. Then we will
experience how harmony can be created for doshic
imbalances and how that balance can be maintained
through a practice of Vinyasa Flow, Ashtanga, or
other asana practice in combination with pranayama.
